Set Apart

“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil.  For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry.

During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.”

But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say,

‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”   Matt. 4:1-4 NLT

Most of the time we have our eyes so fixed on the fact that Jesus was the Son of God that we lose sight of the fact that He was also a man just like us.

All the body and soul battles that man has to deal with are the same battles that Jesus dealt with.

It appears that many Christians, today, try to excuse their sins on the basis that Jesus was God and He did not have the same temptations, hunger or emotions.

Jesus was just as much a man as we are.  He had to meet every challenge of the body and soul, just as you and I have to meet them.

Jesus willed----determined to do God’s will and to know God’s will.

There are two phases we must face to enter into the will of God.

First, is to surrender our will to do the will of God.

Secondly, is recognizing yourself as God’s child and you are His servant.

The secret to Jesus’ life was He dedicated Himself to God.

He dedicated Himself to do the will of His Father, not His own will.

Jesus dedicated and consecrated Himself to God, body, soul, and spirit.
