Pursuing a Pure Heart

“But I, the Lord, search all hearts
and examine secret motives.
I give all people their due rewards,
according to what their actions deserve.”   Jer. 17:10  NLT

Purity of heart should be the main focus of a true Christian.

Psalm 51:6 says, “Surely you desire truth in the inner parts…..”   The pure in heart are those whose minds, motives, affections and principles have been cleansed by faith in Jesus and through the washing of rebirth.  (Titus 3:5)

They seek not only to have their external actions corrected, but they desire to be holy in their heart.    True Christians know that man looks on the outward appearance but God looks into a man’s heart.  (Gal. 2:6, I Sam. 16:7)

The pure in heart care nothing for the things that lead man into sin.   Anyone who is focused on pursing the Kingdom of God and His righteousness will be inwardly pure.

Inward shame, deceit, pride and moral sin cannot coexist with a pure heart devoted to God.

The pure in heart will see God.  (Matt. 5:8)   None but the pure in heart will be able to look upon the face of God.   He cannot behold iniquity nor could the impure stand to look upon God’s purity.   The unclean will never enter into God’s dwelling place.

Receiving Jesus as Savior and Lord will cover your sins under His blood.  They will be forgiven and forgotten, causing you to become a new creature in Christ Jesus.  This change will turn you from sin-centeredness and selfishness to God.

Those who cry out to God as King David did in Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me,” will see God.
